Arts Centre Melbourne
Commissioned by the Arts Centre Melbourne, the Bouquet public art sculpture celebrated the re-opening of Hamer Hall. The 13 meter high gladioli sculpture pays homage to the tradition of an opening night bouquet and the lasting link between the Arts Centre and Dame Edna Everage. Concept design by revered designer Brian Thompson.
Never one to shy away from a challenge, we conducted feasibility studies, consulted engineers and developed a strategy to bring this grandiose vision to life. Each petal of the bouquet was hand crafted, with flower stems engineered from steel. To integrate with the slope of the site, we designed a plinth for the vase and gladioli. Sir Barry Humphries unveiled the Bouquet, which was warmly embraced by Melbournians. Illuminated by an incredible light show, the work was a stunning spectacle at night. Bouquet was a joint project with Hatchling Studio.
